About This Spot

Stepping into Pandan Thai Cafe, nestled on a lively stretch of Des Voeux Road West, you’re gently transported to a humble corner of Thailand right in the heart of Sai Ying Pun. The space feels compact and cozy, inviting diners into a warmly lit nook where the buzz is soft but alive—conversations hum alongside the clatter of plates, and the pace is pleasantly unhurried, perfect for a casual meal that both satisfies and comforts.

Here, the atmosphere leans into simplicity and familiarity. Tables sit close enough to foster an intimate sense of community without feeling cramped, making it a place where locals and visitors alike gather for an authentic slice of everyday Thai flavors. The friendly staff, many of whom bring a genuine warmth and attentiveness, quietly shape the experience, letting the food and convivial vibe speak most prominently.

The menu feels like a thoughtful collection of homestyle favorites, each dish echoing the nuanced balance of Thai cooking—from the gentle spice of a vibrant som tum salad to the lush richness of southern coconut-infused desserts. A shared plate of golden shrimp cake or grilled chicken skewers can easily spark moments of connection, while bowls of noodle soup and jasmine rice grounding the meal with satisfying familiarity. Drinks like iced Thai milk tea and fresh young coconut add a refreshing pause to the bustling rhythm outside.

For those seeking a midday break or a relaxed evening escape, Pandan Thai Cafe offers a humble but genuine spot that feels less like a stopover and more like a small, cherished ritual. A nice choice for lunch that leaves you full and satisfied. The prawn cake was very fresh and you could taste the prawns. Other two dishes were good too. You also get a free drink during lunch time for $60.

Small Thai restaurant with about 30 seats, neatly renovated. Taste of food is good, staff are friendly and attentive. Roasted chicken, pad thai, tom yum soup and most dishes are delicious, only the shrimp cake is not al dente enough. Tables are packed together and a little small, so may not have enough space for the dishes. Though there are some minor points to be improve, this new restaurant is good and worth visit again.

5-star is granted for the food. They are yummy Prawn and pomelo salad is fresh Mango sticky rice also great And the noodle also impressive. Big note in here: don’t mind the server, and you will be able to eat peacefully. There is strange requirement which is not written anywhere in the restaurant. The server said that each person should put an order. So if you come in 2, both person should say their order. If it is only one of you speak, they will consider only 1 person ordering...

Always reliable and friendly service. Their lunch menu runs from 11ish to 530pm. Affordable Thai food and no service charge. The crew speaks Thai as well.

Cozy atmosphere. Arrived for dinner on a Friday night there were some open tables. Great menu lots of options, not just basic choices (ex. Only pad Thai and red curry, lol.) Food reminded me of eating in Bangkok.
